Jeff Ruple left his position as a shareholder in a National Law Firm to join Bob and Ric in 2014. He has over 20 years of experience representing individuals and businesses in a broad range of legal issues. Jeff's experience has included defending Fortune 500 Companies to small businesses and individuals in premises liability, product liability, contractual, professional liability, trademark/copyright, employment, real estate and insurance disputes.
Jeff has represented manufacturers, suppliers, contractors in product liability cases for over 19 years. This has included toxic tort matters such as asbestos and silica cases where Jeff has defended regional suppliers of products, construction companies, premises owners, and suppliers of raw asbestos, and manufacturers of friction products, gaskets, boilers, wire and cable products and more. Jeff also has defended claims related to consumer and industrial products ranging from gas containers, gas grills, candles, fork lifts and even pet leashes.
In the area of insurance disputes, Jeff was appointed in 2012 by the Ohio State Bar Association to serve on the inaugural Insurance Coverage Specialty Board, whose responsibility was to prepare the first examination for lawyers seeking to be certified specialist in the area of insurance coverage. He continues to represent his clients with respect to commercial, automobile and homeowners insurance polices.
Jeff's ongoing work with commercial landlords involves leases and related agreements, contracts, tenant disputes, and collections. In addition, Jeff has litigation experience in intellectual property matters including copyright and trademark cases. Finally, Jeff has defended a large number of individuals and companies in negligence cases including premises liability, transportation and automobile accidents.
In 2017, Jeff was appointed by the Ohio Supreme Court to the Commission on the Thomas J. Moyer Judicial Center to assist and advise the Ohio Supreme Court regarding the preservation of the artistic, architectural, and historic integrity of the Moyer Judicial Center, the home of the Ohio judicial branch of government. He was nominated by Justice R. Patrick DeWine.
Jeff prides himself on giving his clients candid, practical legal advice. He has tried cases to judges and juries, and he is admitted to the state Courts in Ohio and Kentucky, the Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals, Northern District of Ohio, Southern District of Ohio, Eastern District of Michigan, Eastern District of Kentucky, and has been admitted pro hac vice
in courts in Minnesota, Pennsylvania and New York.
Jeff is proud to be active in the community. He is a former Board Member of Learning About Business (LAB), the Kirtland Kiwanis and Red Oak Camp. He currently serves on the Board of Directors for the Willoughby Fine Arts Association, Willoughy Western Lake County Chamber of Commerce and Leadership Lake County.
